MyRise Coding Academy

What is MyRise?

MyRise is a pre-college coding academy that teaches youth the technical and leadership skills used by professionals to create modern websites and web apps.

What, where, and when?

Mini-workshops (free!) will be run throughout July and August. Each workshop will be one and a half hours in length. The exact times/dates and location will be decided very soon.

How old do I have to be to attend?

Currently our program is offered to high school age students. We will also accept those who are preparing to enter 9th grade in the upcoming school year, and those who have graduated at the end of the preceding school year.

Where and when is it happening?

Our first two-week session is taking place at the Picknelly Center, which is in the Holyoke Transportation Center (all Holyoke buses run through here). It will run from July 14 to 28. Class will be from 9am - 4pm every weekday.

Our Mission

To open a pipeline into the tech industry for underrepresented communities.

We teach more than just technical skills

Web Development

Our web development curriculum focuses on front-end web development fundamentals. We will teach HTML, CSS, and Javascript. Other tools will be covered as well, such as Git, Sublime Text, and Slack. After completing our program, students will have all the skills they need to build modern, responsive websites on their own.

We support our participants in becoming leaders within their communities. We help our students learn to work effectively as both the leader of a team and as a team member. Our participants are all encouraged to use the skills they acquire at MyRise to improve the lives of those around them.

We teach our participants about client management, time management, and other skills that are integral to navigating professional environments. During the program they will have the opportunity to apply everything that they have learned by working on real client projects!
